Lady Ruella took a seat in a corner of the tavern, keeping the hood of her cloak over her face. She liked coming here - it made her feel like she was still a person rather than some untouchable thing locked in the City of the Gods. She looked around to see if she could recognize anyone.

Evelyne was laughing at a drinking game some men she knew were playing. Her laughing ceased, however, when she noticed she had another customer. Slipping away from the fun, she swiftly walked towards the cloaked person, her hair swishing behind her. Stopping beside the seated customer, Evelyne smiled slightly, "Can I get you something to drink or eat my good fellow?"

Ruella smiled at the girl, although her hood still obscured her face. "Wine, if there's any left thanks," she asked, dark eyes thoughtful

Evelyne nodded, picking up some empty dishes as she made her way behind the bar. Setting the dishes down, the girl went towards the back for a moment to pull out some wine for the customer. Pouring a goblet full of wine, Evelyne made her way back to the table in the corner and carefully set the glass down.
" 'Scuse me, but are you from around here? I've not seen ya 'afore."

Ruella accepted the wine, and examined it thoughtfully for a few moments. "I am from further north, although I come here fairly often. I'm surprised you don't recognise me." She watched the girl, curious

Evelyne's smile faltered slightly, "I'm sorry I do not recognize you, Milady." She paused a moment before taking a seat accross from the woman. "You wear your cloak often, do you not? And your normal seat is taken. The one by the fire where you can be warmed, but still remain in shadows, going unnoticed. This seat is better for viewing who enters and exits this place, however." She let her voice drift off as she gazed into the fire. "Perhaps I'm mistaken. Perhaps I do recognize you..."

Ruella smiled. "Perhaps I would have been by the fire... if I wished to be talking to any of them right now," she indicated the red-faced group of drunken men in the middle of a card game, completely blocking the fire. "They obviously aren't regulars," She took a sip of her wine

"Milady, they are men who came from afar. Wouldn't say where, just not from here. There's something peculiar about them that worries me." Grinning, the girl suddenly looked proud, "I gave them our best drink, a mixture of the roughest alcohols. They'll not wake til the sun is high overhead, and they'll be a groaning with aches and sickness."
Glancing back at the men, she thought to herself 'I knicked `em good too. I've needed a decent tip for a while now, they were the perfect ones. Stupid men, they're all the same. Heavy drinkers, rude, and loud.'
Lowering her voice, Evelyne gazed intently at the femme, her emerald eyes appearing to glow in the dimly lit tavern. "Milady, do you have a place to stay?"

Ruella remained watching the group by the fire thoughtfully a few moments more, then looked back at the girl. "I hope you didn't get caught... though from the looks of things they won't remember much in the morning, if anything."
She was a little surprised Evelyne's question. "Oh.... No.... I'm alright for somewhere... Thankyou though." She didn't think the thief-girl would take too well to the idea that Ruella lived in the palace while she was in Corus... although Ruella thought Evelyne had already known that.

Evelyne smiled, "that's good, Milady. If you ever need anything, come to me and you'll be taken care of." The girl leaned back in her chair, eyeing Ruella. "What brings you to Corus this time, Milady?"

Ruella thought for a moment. "Business mostly... and I want the chance to meet up with some old friends of mine."

The girl flashed her white teeth at the female in a grin. "How're they treatin' ya?" she asked, indicating those at the palace, realizing that's where the woman was staying. "If anyone causes Milady trouble, you come to me. My mates and I will make sure it doesn't happen again." Evelyne paused a moment, watching the female sip the remaining wine in her goblet.
"Pardon my bluntness, Milady, and my rudeness." Lowering her voice to a near whisper, the girl continued, "is your business just that of teachin' young trouble-makers like myself, or is it something more...something involving the kingdom's borders?"

Ruella's bright eyes held Evelyne's for a few moments. "I am here for my students," she said quietly. "You can take that as you wish, but I won't say any more."

Standing up, the femme stretched, her dancing emerald eyes never leaving the woman's bright orbs. As she began to walk off, the girl bent down, as if to take the empty goblet from the woman.
"Ruella," she began, whispering in the woman's ear. She used her name, something she had done never before. "Watch your back, and keep your window open. I will meet you tonight."
Taking the glass, the girl walked to the back of the counter and began to wash the dirty dishes that had piled up. Greetings came and went as new people piled in, others leaving, drunk and noisey.

Ruella remained where she was, thinking. She didn't fear being attacked by anyone, she knew she could defend herself if she had to. She wondered what it was Evie wanted, but guessed she'd find out later.
